Qualitative Research: Getting First-Class Results on a Coach Budget

Qual research - getting first class results on a coach budget

You’re feeling it too, right? Everything costs more. From travel to facility fees to recruiting. At the same time, research budgets are stagnant. The result? Those of us in field research are feeling the squeeze—we’re talking Death Star Trash Compactor squeeze.

So, how do you still deliver the first-class results your clients want and expect while keeping costs under control?

The answer, for us, has been online qual research.

Successfully managing qualitative research online involves legwork to figure out an SOP that mitigates the limitations and challenges of online research, while maximizing the benefits.

For those who do predominantly face-to-face qual, this is the point where you roll your eyes and say, “Yeah, right,” and we get it. Conducting qual research online isn’t a fit for every project or every client. Many were forced down that path during the travel-restriction days of the pandemic with “mixed results,” to put it kindly. And if you’re not comfortable or well-versed in using the tools and tech needed to conduct your research online, there will always be reservations.

But online qual research can be done effectively while keeping costs under control.

It   Can   Be   Done.

We know because we’ve done it and continue to do it with great success and it doesn’t involve channeling some sort of voodoo magic.

Admittedly, here at Dialsmith, we have some advantages as we’ve been supporting dial testing online for more than a decade. Even so, successfully managing qualitative research online involves legwork to develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) that mitigates the limitations and challenges of online research, while maximizing the benefits.

So, how do we do it? Check out my LinkedIn Pulse article for a look under the hood at how we built our online qual SOP.

Want to know more about our online qual services? Here’s a nice summary. If you have questions about doing your own online qual research, or if there are ways we might be able to help you drive forward with your research while sticking to your budget, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
